Frequently Used Tools:

Safe Zone Training

Safe Zone training explores LGBT issues in an honest and open way, and provides participants with an opportunity to explore the concept of an LGBT ally and the commitments an LGBT ally makes. Safe Zone training will interrogate commonly held myths and misperceptions about LGBT communities and explore and challenge commonly held beliefs about the LGBT community. Trainers use small group activities, the dissemination of information, and large group discussions. At the end of the Safe Zone training, facilitators will offer participants the opportunity to receive a UT Safe Zone sticker, which they may choose to post in their office or work areas. Placing a UT Safe Zone sticker in an office or work area denotes the participant's willingness to serve as an LGBT Ally and to create a safe space in his or her office or work area. Anyone is welcome to enter a Safe Zone. You do not need to be a member of the LGBT community.
